Lonar lake is a national Geo heritage
Lonar lake is an astrobleme created by meteorite impact
during the Pleistocene epoch, in brief, it is the only impact crater in
India out of four worldwide, the other three are in southern Brazil.

- Rim Diameter ->1.8KM (5900 ft.)
- Average depth from Rim ->137mtr(449 ft.)
- Shape -Oval
It is said to be, it was created some 65 million years ago.
The water in Lonar lake is both Saline & Alkaline.
As per some studies by IITB college students, minerals in
Lonar lake soil are very similar to the minerals found in moon rocks.
During the dry weather of summer, a lot of soda is
collected, Two small river streams Purna & Penganga drains
into the lake.
Fresh water well is located on the southern side of lonar
lake.
In 2022 Maharashtra Government decided to develop Lonar lake as a tourist attraction
