The government of Maharashtra has recently launched a new scheme called the Lek Ladki scheme. The scheme's main aim is to promote education for girl children and empower them with knowledge and skills to lead a better life.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra had announced this scheme during Maharashtra Government Budget 2023-24
The total benefit provided is around Rs.98000/- at different stages of a girl's life.

Families holding yellow and Orange ration cards are eligible to apply under the Lek Ladki scheme.
Eligible families can get in touch with ASHA workers by submitting application forms at Anganwadi centers
Under the Lek Ladki scheme, the Maharashtra government will provide financial assistance to families for the education of their girl children. The scheme will cover girls from class 1 to class 12 (1,6,11) and financial assistance will be provided for school fees, books, uniforms, and other related expenses. The amount of financial assistance will vary depending on the class of the student.
The Lek Ladki scheme is a step towards achieving the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. The scheme will also help in reducing the gender gap in education and promoting gender equality.
